Managing copyright is a key responsibility of caring for collections, and it is critical to understand that copyright is an issue that affects registrars and collections specialists on a cross-global scale. The webinar will begin with a brief practical introduction to copyright law, but will focus on copyright in an international setting.
The panelists will discuss the public domain, and fair use/fair dealing, and delve into copyright conundrums in collections acquisitions and exhibition management in various regions of the world. Attendees will be presented with resources, methodologies, and examples to navigate the various licensing options and ever-changing uses affecting collections stewardship.
The webinar will conclude with a longer than usual Q&A session, roughly 20 minutes in length, to address questions, concerns, and doubts from the attendees.

Global Connections Committee Stipend Giveaway
The Committee is pleased to provide registration stipends for four (4) attendees of the webinar. Priority will be given to emerging professionals, attendees from outside the United States, and those with an interest in copyright.
Interested parties should submit an application via the form below by March 1, 2022.

Reminder! ARCS Board of Directors: Call for Nominations 2022-2024
Deadline for submission is February 25, 2022.
As the terms of current members of our Board of Directors conclude, we call on members to serve. We encourage candidates who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), and LGBTQIA+ to apply to strengthen our cognitive diversity and meet the needs of a global community.
In addition, we seek professionals:
- with interest in our mentorship and awards programs
- who steward BIPOC or other less represented collections
- who are globally connected, particularly in North and South America
- from small galleries and private collections
- who steward living collections
- in adjacent fields, e.g. conservation, preparation, archives, and libraries
