ARCS 2022 Membership Survey

We want to hear from you! The ARCS Membership Committee has created the 2022 Membership Survey. Your participation and voice will help us improve our work and prioritize your needs. The results help all of us at ARCS ensure that we are doing right by our membership. The deadline to complete the survey is April 15, 2022. If you are a member and did not receive the survey link, please email us at info@arcsinfo.org to participate

Internship Stipend

ARCS is committed to advocating for paid internships in an industry that remains inaccessible to many. We understand that internships are often necessary to begin a career in museums and we feel strongly that that work should be paid. Starting in Fall 2021, ARCS awarded a $1,000 stipend plus an annual membership to two applicants pursuing internships in registration and/or collections management. The goal of the stipend program is to alleviate some of the financial burden that students often have to bear in order to begin their careers in this field.

We are thrilled to continue this initiative and welcome qualified applicants to apply for the Summer 2022 term using the link below. Applications are due by April 4th and winners will be notified in mid-April.

Courier Sub-Committee IG #Takeover

The ARCS Courier Sub-Committee of the Education Committee grew out of the task force that planned the ARCS Courier Workshop at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. This workshop was presented in March 2020 in conjunction with the European Registrars Group, just as the world began to shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic and courier practice has certainly evolved since then! The current committee works on initiatives to aid registrars and collections staff in navigating the world of courier practice and planning education programs. Follow @arcs4all on Instagram to learn more about the group throughout this week’s ARCS Courier Sub-Committee takeover. Meet the committee members and learn about projects they’ve been working on to create courier resources, including the Courier Decision Tool and the brand-new handout, Technology for Remote Courier Practice.

The webinar will begin with a brief practical introduction to copyright law, but will focus on copyright in an international setting.

The panelists will discuss the public domain, and fair use/fair dealing, and delve into copyright conundrums in collections acquisitions and exhibition management in various regions of the world. Attendees will be presented with resources, methodologies, and examples to navigate the various licensing options and ever-changing uses affecting collections stewardship.

The webinar will conclude with a longer than usual Q&A session, roughly 20 minutes in length, to address questions, concerns, and doubts from the attendees.
